Cassette – A Taxijam

So this next band was a bit short notice…..we got word that they were stopping off in Cape Town on part of their whirlwind South African tour to launch their new album – “Who Do you Trust” – so we squeezed them in one Friday lunchtime….. and they produced definitely one of the most entertaining Taxijams we have done to date, completely impromptu and off the ‘cuff – the results of which are what Taxijam is all about!

A little bit about Cassette…..

Cassette was nominated for 3 x MTN South African Music Awards in 2007 including that for Best Group, and ended up taking the award for Best Rock Album with their debut album, Welcome Back To Earth. The band has collaborated with local legends such as the Mahotella Queens, Zubz and Vusi Mahlasela and has supported international artists such as Pink, Evanescence, Eagle Eye Cherry, Blof and many more. At the request of Nelson Mandela, they also opened the 46664 Concert in December last year.
…. They have had 6 major national hits in South Africa from their first album including ‘Tracy’, ‘Beautiful Smile’, ‘Sometimes’ (featuring the Mahotella Queens) and ‘AI’. They have also had a national hit with a cover of the Boomtown Rats hit, ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’. They have produced three music videos, two of which have occupied the number one spot on MK89’s music video charts, while the video for ‘Sometimes’ reached the number one spot on MTV Base. ….
